Headhouse Competition

This project is one of four winning entries in an international competition sponsored by the St. Paul Riverfront Corporation to develop feasible ideas for the re-use of a historic mill building located on St. Paul’s Upper Landing.

The Head House and Sack House complex will become the central focus of a new urban residential and commercial development. The new neighborhood, called the Head House Pier, will be complete with housing of various scales and textures. It will provide residential opportunities to people of varied economic capacities. It will be complete with indoor and open-air marketplaces, restaurants, and retail spaces. It will have an urban town square. Through all of these elements, the Head House Pier neighborhood will become a truly urban residential community and establish a meaningful relationship with residents and visitors alike.
