Minimalist Condo
Minneapolis, MN
This 1,700 sf condo is located in a former blanket factory in Minneapolis’s Historic Mill District. The existing space required extensive renovation to create a refined environment for a world-class collection of contemporary furniture and art. As you enter the condo unit, an entry vestibule creates not only a more formal transition into the living space from the common hallway, but also an area that can be secured separately for the drop-off of packages and dry cleaning. Other modifications were made throughout to accommodate aging-in-place. The ceilings in the entry, kitchen and master suite were lowered to create a more humane, intimate sense of space. Elsewhere, the existing structure and ductwork were left exposed in a nod to the building’s industrial past. Both old and new elements are rendered in shades of white, offset by a maple floor stained dark and highlighted by accents of silver travertine.
