The Portland Condominiums

Minneapolis, MN

The Portland is a 43-unit residential project in the historic Mill District of Minneapolis. The massing and materials of the building respond to the neighborhood context, while a dynamic composition of color and form set the building apart. The retail/residential base of the building is clad in ironspot brick, and the upper levels consist of playful compositions of galvanized steel box balconies that project from an undulating wall of composite wood panels. Three penthouse units clad in galvanized steel panels pull back from the building edge to create an outdoor rooftop space. A landscaped courtyard on the block’s interior is a public space for neighborhood residents.
